Transport systems, such as rail, water, road etc., bridges geographical distances and connect diverse societies. They enable people, ideas, and traditions to cross borders and foster cultural interactions. As individuals and goods move freely from one place to another, they can easily carry with them elements of their culture, art or language.

b) Transport help in raising standard of living of the peopleIf agreed, explain how and what are the benefits facilitated by transport.

b) State the comparative analysis about how a store differs from a warehouse with suitable example.

Ans: Stores, also known as retail outlets, are physical or online locations where goods are sold directly to consumers. They are the final point in the supply chain where products are purchased by customers. Stores are designed for displaying and selling products to consumers. They are customer-facing and are meant to provide a retail experience that encourages purchasing.

Examples of store: Grocery stores, departmental stores, Boutique stores etc.

Warehouses are large storage facilities used to store goods before they are distributed to retailers, wholesalers, or directly to customers. They are part of the logistics and supply chain management process.

Examples of Warehouse: Cold storage warehouses, Distribution centres, Logistics warehouses etc.

Post offices often serve as accessible financial institutions, particularly in rural areas, where they play a crucial role in financial inclusion.

Schemes of Post offices:

1. Post Office Savings Bank Account: It is a type of account in which we can deposit our savings in post offices and withdraw it whenever required. A minimum amount of Rupees Fifty is required to open the account and we can deposit a maximum of Rupees one lac in our account in the case of individual. The account can be jointly operated and in that case the maximum limit of deposit can be raised to rupees two lac. Money can be withdrawn from the account by using withdrawal slips or cheques. Post office pays interest on our deposits, which is totally exempted from income tax.

2. 5-Year Post Office Recurring Deposit Scheme: A Recurring Deposit account can be opened with a minimum amount of Rs 10/ with is a multiple of Rs.5/- without any maximum limit. The deposit is to be made every month for a period of 5 years. After one year, 50% of the deposit can be withdrawn only once during the five-year period. There is no restriction to open more than one recurring deposit account in the name of a single individual. On maturity INR 10/ account fetches INR 728.90. This account can be continued for another 5 years on year to year basis.

b) State various services provided by post offices and private courier services providers and among them which you find the best for services and why? (See Lesson- 8)

a) Name and explain a process through which one person gets some goods or properties transferred in his name from another, on payment of money.         (See Lesson- 12)

Ans: Purchase is a process through which a person gets the ownership of some goods or properties transferred in his name from another, on payment of money. Similarly, sale is a process through which the ownership of some goods or properties is transferred from one person (seller) to another person (buyer), for a price.

In business, the process through which one person gets goods or properties transferred in their name from another on payment of money is called a purchase ransaction. This involves the buyer paying the agreed amount to the seller in exchange for the goods or properties. The transfer of ownership is typically documented through a sales contract or agreement.

For example, if someone wants to buy a car from another person, they would negotiate the price and terms of the sale. Once both parties agree, the buyer would pay the seller the agreed amount, and the seller would transfer the ownership of the car tothe buyer by signing over the title or providing a bill of sale.

Ans: Functions of Retailers: Retailers as the last link in the chain of distribution, performs good many functions of marketing. Of all these following are the most significant ones.

1. Buying and assembling: Retailer has to assemble products from different manufacturers and wholesalers as he has to keep wide variety of stock of products market the varied and small requirements of large number of customers. This assembling possible through the prices of buying. Buying is a continuous process involving selection and the most economical and dependable sources of supply.

2. Warehousing: Retailer is a safety value releasing the goods in quantities different varieties and price ranges according to the consumer needs. Warehousing has possible holding the stocks to match between the consumer demand and the wholesalers or manufacturer supply conditions. It is possible to have adequate and interrupted supply of goods.

3. Selling: The final aim is to sell products so bought and held by him. Retailer is rightly called as the buying agent of consumers. He is the means to dispose the goods to the consumers for producers and wholesalers and collect the sales revenue for them. Successful retailing needs good deal of salesmanship tactics.
