1. Answer any one of the following question in about 40 – 60 words.             2

(a) Sekhar wants to create a new folder named “Notations”, but wrongly created the folder named “Notes”. Mention the steps to rename the folder as “Notations”. (See Lesson-2)

2. Then right click on the folder

3. Select the rename option from the menu

4. Change the name of “Notes” to “Notations”

(b) Raj himself wants to assemble computer hardware parts by buying them from the market. Name any four essential parts which are required to assemble a computer.Which software from the list below will be required first to install the computer after assembling?  (See Lesson-2)

Ans: Difference between worksheet and workbook

a) In MS Excel, a worksheet is a single page in a workbook while A workbook can contain multiple worksheets.

b) A worksheet contains cells with data, formulas, and charts which are used by users to analyze and manipulate the data while A workbook contains multiple worksheets, charts, graphs and other objects which are used by users to analyze the data.

4. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100-150 words.               4

(a) Define typing screen object, insertion point, mouse pointer, and end-of-document marker?  (See Lesson3)

 Ans: Typing Screen Objects. The open area below the rulers and toolbars is writing or typing area. There are certain objects that are a permanent part of the typing area. These are: (a) Insertion Point, (b) Mouse Pointer, and (c) End-of-Document Marker.

Insertion Point: The balck vertial blinking line is the insertion point that is initially at the top side of the type are. It indicates the place where your typing is inserted into the document. As you type, the blinking line continuously moves along towards rright inserting in that line whatever is typed. When the up, down , left or right arrows of the keyboard is used the insertion point move accordingly. When you move and place the cursor anywhere in the text and click, the insertion point shifts to that place from its current location indicating that it is ready to accept your typing.

Mouse Pointer: When you move the mouse around in the typing area, the mouse pointer is in the shape of a thin “I” beam. As you move the mouse pointer becomes a pointing arrow. If you move the mouse pointer to some exiting point of text and click the mouse, you will see the insertion point in that spot of the text.

End-of-Document marker: The Horizontal line at the document is called end-of-document marker. This market lets you know where the end of document occurs.

(b) Explain freeze pan. Mention the advantages of using freeze pan with the help of suitable example. To do this, write the above steps.      (See Lesson6)

5. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100-150 words.               4

(a) Rahul wants to install a software in his computer. Help him to install the software,and state the steps to do so. But Rahul made a mistake in installing the software,and now he wants to remove the installed program. List the steps to uninstall the software.  (See Lesson2)

Ans: If a software is not installed properly, it must be uninstalled from computer and then again installation can be correctly done. Following are the steps to uninstall a software from computer:

a) Click on the Start button and select “Control Panel”.

b) Click “Programs and Features” to open the list of installed programs on your computers.

c) Select the software you want to uninstall and click on the “Uninstall” button.

d) Follow the instructions displayed on screen to uninstall the software.

e) Once the uninstallation process is complete, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

f) After restarting your computer, you can verify that the software has been uninstalled by searching for it in the Start menu or check “Programs and Features” section of control panel.

(b) Swati, HR Manager at Reach Recruitment Company, stored the candidate’s resumes in a spreadsheet. There are 15 candidates for the post of Junior Engineer. Four rounds were conducted to interview the candidates. The manager wants to store the confidential comments at each round of interview conducted in a spreadsheet. Explain the different ways of keeping his workbook safe.  (See Lesson-6)

6. Prepare any one Project out of the following projects given below:

(a) Create a new workbook as shown in the table below, and save the file as “payroll”.

(i) Enter labels, and values in the exact cell locations as desired.

(ii) Use Auto fill to put the employee number in cells A4:A8.

(iii) Set the width of the columns, and the height of the rows appropriately.

(iv) Set the label alignment appropriately.

(v) Use warp text, and merge cells as desired.

(vi) Apply borders, grid lines, and shading to the table as desired.

(vii) Format cell B2 in short date format.

(viii) Calculate the gross salary for the employee.

(ix) Set the worksheet vertically, and horizontally on the page.

1. Open Microsoft Word.

2. Click on the “File” tab in the top left corner.

3. Select “New” from the menu.

4. Choose blank document or template of your choice.

5. Start typing your document and add features, such as tables, pictures, and page numbers according to your need.

6. When your document is ready, click the “Save” button in the top left corner or use shortcut key Ctrl + S to save the document.

Steps to edit an existing document:

1. Open Microsoft Word.

2. Click on the “File” tab in the top left corner.

3. Select “open” from the menu.

4. Select the file you want to open to edit.

5. After editing, click the “Save” button in the top left corner or use shortcut key Ctrl + S to save the document.

Steps to exit an existing document:

1. Click on the “File” tab in the top left corner of the document.

2. Select “Close” from the menu.

3. After this you will be exited from the existing document.
